On September 26, 2025, we celebrate International Compliance Officer’s Day and recognize the professionals who stand on the front lines of corporate accountability. Compliance officers carry the weight of ensuring businesses operate ethically, legally, and responsibly, protecting employees from missteps while safeguarding the trust of clients, investors, and regulators. Their role is one of constant vigilance, requiring expertise and balance in an ever-changing regulatory environment. 

Celebrating Leadership and Dedication

This year, StarCompliance (Star) is proud to celebrate that commitment by shining a spotlight on four of our outstanding clients. We asked our relationship management team to nominate those who have gone above and beyond in advancing compliance within their organizations.  

The response was overwhelming, and selecting just four honorees was no easy task. This year Star celebrates: 

  • Alexsandra Remorenko, President & Chief Compliance Officer of M&T Securities, Inc., has implemented Star solutions 3X across her career. Her leadership and dedication have strengthened M&T’s compliance program, demonstrating the vital importance of embedding compliance into company culture. By guiding the organization through complex challenges and inspiring peers across the industry, she embodies what it means to lead from the front lines of compliance. 
  • David Madgwick, Training & Competence Manager of Charles Stanley & Co, championed the Star T&C platform during Charles Stanley’s transition following its acquisition by Raymond James. He engaged stakeholders and ensured the solution’s continued success at the firm. Thanks to his vision and advocacy, the solution was not only retained but expanded, with Raymond James UK now adopting it as well.  
  • Mark Wiehe, Senior Vice President Enterprise Risk, and Ryan Dunlap, Control Room Compliance Section Manager at Huntington National Bank, have built a forward-thinking partnership with Star by combining strategic leadership with strong tactical execution. Their advocacy for adopting new services, including the Client Success Manager role, shows a commitment to evolving with industry needs.  Through their transparency, responsiveness, and focus on continuous improvement, Mark and Ryan exemplify what it means to be true strategic collaborators.

The daily work of compliance officers is a careful balancing act. They must keep employees engaged in compliance by reporting conflicts, disclosing trades, and following policies, while also ensuring that processes remain efficient so the business can continue to move quickly and effectively. Striking the right balance is one of the profession’s greatest challenges, particularly as accountability regimes expand and new areas such as crypto assets face increasing scrutiny.
